Keeping
Cleveland Heights
in good repair!

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

Project Repair offers repair workshops throughout the year. Most are held in our Teaching Center (take a Virtual Tour of our workshop where we offer classes,) but some--especially summer classes--are held "on-site" in participants' homes. These classes provide hands-on practice and are kept small to maximize learning. The classes are free, and open to all Cleveland Heights residents. Reservations are a must! Call 381-9560 to save your space.

Note: In addition to Project Repair's "hands-on" workshops for do-selfers, Home Repair Resource Center has also scheduled a "Wealth Building" interactive workshops series on financial empowerment.

JULY

PORCH ROOF REPLACEMENT
Monday, July 7th, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Learn how to re-roof a second-floor porch, using cold process modified bitument roofing, a long-lasting material that can also be used on “flat” roofs over shed-type garages. We’ll show you how to replace rotted areas of the plywood roof deck, as well.

SHINGLED GARAGE ROOF REPLACEMENT
Monday, July 14th, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Learn how to install a shingled roof atop a gabled-type garage. You’ll learn how to replace the plywood roof deck, lay roofing felt and shingles, and finish up with the roof cap at the peak.

PORCH RAILINGS
Monday, July 28th, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

You’ll learn how to construct wooden railings and install them on a second floor porch roof in such a way as to minimize leaking through the roof material beneath it.

AUGUST

GARAGE DOOR REPAIR
Monday, August 4th, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

At this class, you’ll learn how to do some basic repairs to a garage door (replacing bottom brackets and the long-stem roller). We’ll also talk about what kinds of repairs you should not tackle yourself.

TUCKPOINTING
Monday, August 11th, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Tuckpointing (replacing deteriorated or missing mortar between bricks) is frequently cited on violation lists. Most people are surprised that it’s such an easy do-self repair. You’ll practice techniques that will produce a neat and attractive job.

GARAGE WIRING
Monday, August 18th, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

You’ll learn how to replace old wiring or run new circuits inside a garage, so you’ll have enough power for your needs and your work will meet code requirements.

INSTALLING AN EXTERIOR LIGHT
Monday, August 25th, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Learn how to install an exterior light – in this case, on a garage. We’ll talk about how to mount the fixture and ensure that all wiring connections are weatherproof.

ASPHALT DRIVEWAY SEALING
Saturday, August 30th, 10 a.m. - noon

You’ll learn how to use cold patch, crack filler and sealer to repair and seal a drive. (This class will be messy – wear old clothers!)
