Home Repair Resource Center offers workshops that focus on the special needs of seniors:


Classes will help seniors become more knowledgeable about their homes and better prepared to carry out needed maintenance and/or make their homes more sustainable. All classes will be held from 11 am to 12:30 pm at Home Repair Resource Center, 2520 Noble Road, Cleveland Heights.

Accessible Baths

Wednesday, March 18th

For seniors, especially, whether or not a bathroom is accessible can determine how long people can remain in their home. We’ll discuss broad concepts of Universal Design and talk about specific measures that can increase usability.

Inspecting for Winter Damage

Wednesday, April 1st

Now that winter is coming to an end, it’s important to go out and identify any problems that ice and snow may have caused to your house. We’ll talk about the most common issues to look for and discuss how they should be remedied.

Contracting Repairs

Wednesday, April 15th

Learn how to work with contractors. We’ll talk about how to get estimates for home repairs, choose the one that provides the most benefit for the cost, manage the repair process, and make sure the work has been done correctly before releasing your funds.

Comparing Estimates

Wednesday, April 29th

When contracting a repair, one of the most challenging steps can be comparing the estimates you have obtained. We’ll talk about how to ensure that the bids are for the same work, how to determine comparable costs, and what to look for in the “fine print.”
