Home Repair Resource Center is offering two series of workshops that focus on the special needs of seniors.


Classes will help seniors become more knowledgeable about their homes and better prepared to carry out needed maintenance and/or make their homes more sustainable. All classes will be held from 11 am to 12:30 pm at Home Repair Resource Center, 2520 Noble Road, Cleveland Heights.

Aging in Place

Wednesday, May 14th

This session will helps you determine what modifications might allow you to remain in your present home, despite the physical and mental changes that can come with aging.

Emergency Preparedness

Wednesday, May 28th

This session will provide information that will help you plan for emergencies – from natural disasters to water leaks. You’ll learn what supplies you should have on hand, how to turn off utilities, and who to call for expert assistance and remediation.

$5.00 per class. Home Repair Resource Center will offer a series of free classes focused on financial issues that affect seniors. All classes will be held at the Cleveland Heights Senior Center from 11 am to 12 noon.

Managing Your Money as You Age

Tuesday, May 13th

This session will focus on the importance of budgeting and credit management, especially when adjusting to a fixed income (Social Security, retirement, and pensions). We’ll discuss the importance of maintaining good credit and low debt, and explain how to protect yourself from fraud and scams.

Should You Stay, or Should You Go?

Tuesday, June 10th

This session will help you decide if staying in your home is the best option economically, physically, and mentally. You’ll learn about financial options (such as refinancing, home equity lines of credit, and reverse mortgages), the pros and cons of community or assisted living, and how you can get the most out of your home by planning early.

Asset Building and Estate Planning

Tuesday, July 8th

This session will help you plan what will happen to your estate and finances. You’ll learn about managing your cash and investments to protect your assets, avoid the risk of running out of money, and eliminate extra unnecessary stress and problems.

These FREE classes are open to residents of all communities; no reservations are necessary. The sessions will be held in the Main Conference Room of the Cleveland Heights Senior Center, and light refreshments will be provided.
