Keeping
Cleveland Heights
in good repair!

Take a 360° virtual tour of our workshop and library.

The Resource Library at Home Repair Resource Center offers a variety of materials to help all Cleveland Heights residents complete repairs to their homes, whether contracted or do-self. In addition to handouts and other printed resources, our Library offers more than 40 "how-to" videotapes, covering such topics as tuckpointing, changing faucet washers, mixing and finishing concrete, hanging wallpaper, and building wooden steps—all with a focus on the older homes that make up our community. Books, videos, and magazines can be borrowed for home use at no charge.

In addition, we have compiled evaluations of contracted repairs given to us by City residents, so homeowners can identify those professionals who provide good workmanship. We have also developed suggested specifications for fourteen major repairs (to help homeowners obtain comparable estimates and get better quality work.)

Library hours are 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday (afternoon or evening times by appointment.) Call 381-9560 for information.

Home Repair Resource Center has a large workshop facility, where participants in Project Repair’s "hands-on" classes can gain experience with tools and repair techniques in a full-scale setting. The classes are free and open to all Cleveland Heights residents, regardless of income, but reservations are required. The schedule is listed in our Nuts & Bolts newsletter, mailed out bi-monthly to Project Repair participants.

The curriculum begins each fall with the framing and construction of room-size teaching models, and continues with the installation of wall and floor coverings, electrical wiring, plumbing, and other systems. The capacity of the workshop facility also allows Project Repair to offer classes on large-scale projects, such as roofs and gutters.

In addition, the workshop is used for some classes in our “Home How-To” series, where low- and moderate-income women heads of house in Cleveland Heights learn basic home repairs. For information on Project Repair classes or "Home How-To," call 381-9560.
